Royal Spice: An Indian restaurant that offers good value, great service and tasty food Royal Spice is situated off of the High Street in Gosport, close to the George and Dragon Pub. They specialize in Indian, Bangladeshi, Oriental and European cuisine, and offer a warm and friendly service. Being tucked away along a side street, we are not sure that the restaraunt gets the custom it deserves.
The manager welcomed us with open arms and a great calming nature. The staff are willing to cater to any requirement, which was handy as a member of the Grub Gang does not enjoy spicy food! However, the limited english options were recieved with a promise that whatever english food was wanted, it would be made!
Gemma chose the setting for this months Grubgang because of the promise of a "full all you can eat menu" as advertised in the window. When asking inside however, the all you can eat menu was limited and did not offer anything for the non spice fans. This was a little dissappointing when comparing to the other all you can eat restaurants the grubgang have encountered.
The food we did have was lovely and within the budget for 2 courses (starter and main...they have no dessert menu!) The naan bread was very sweet and the popadoms dissapeared very quickly. The curry lovers noted how tasty the sauces were, with tender meat which was delicious.
The decor inside was wonderful. It is only a small restaurant, but doesnt clutter the area with too much decoration. The music played was at the right level and within the tone of the setting (nothing like authentic indian music when having a curry!) and of course, we must mention the facilities!! They were clean, well kept and comfortable (big thumbs up from the ladies here!!)
All the gang agree that if they were chosing an Indian restaurant that offers good value, great service and tasty food, the Royal Spice is the perfect choice!
