Antonios Restaurant Fareham

Not to be bypassed!!!

On performing a search for where the Grubgang could meet this month, Gemma stumbled across Antonios - a Spanish restaurant tucked away along West Street in Fareham. Dont be fooled by the outdoor exterior...........the Grubgang have found yet another Gem!!

Although again a member down, the gang were a foursome once more with standby member Dave Graham ready to give us his opinion on Gemmas Choice! It was eerily quiet upon entering the restaurant, but its hard to understand why. The owner, Tony, greets you in such a warm and friendly manner and you can tell this restaurant is his passion. The decor is quaint, modern and offers pictures of local areas which can be bought at the local picture framing shop.

The starters came after only a 20 minute wait and were presented beautifully. Not only presented beautifully but prepared beautifully too!! Clair opted for the goats cheese with honey which was devine, Gemma and Dave chose pasta dishes which went down fantastically and Mike was wowed by his deep fried Cheddar cheese (which is available on the tapas menu and is to die for!) With the Tapas being such a typical Spanish tradition, three of the gang had to try some! The highlights being the Deep fried cheddar, the various croquettes and the meatballs!! Mike chose from the main menu, choosing a delicious chicken with cream sauce and paprika. Again all cooked wonderfully!!

So to dessert...........baked apple? Chocolate brownie? Vanilla ice cream?? ALL delicious!! We cannot fault the food at all. We only have two very minor points to make......Clairs plate was a little dirty off of the hot rack (but not too much to cause great concern) and also the chairs were a little uncomfortable on the old behind!! Maybe a revamp of furniture would help in this respect!! The facilities were immaculate! And the ladies even have a range of body sprays and other delights to use!! worth a look!!

So, if you want a meal for easily £20 a head (including our drink) and you want to steer away from the bigger chains in Fareham, Grubgang heartily recommend Antonios. We will be visiting again in the future that's for certain!! Well done Tony and his staff!
