Istanbul Restaurant Review

(Second visit: 06/12/09)
Istanbul Restaurant:A trip down memory lane for the birthday girl!!

Yes, its December again and that can only mean one, not is Gemma's birthday. As she enjoyed our first visit to the Istanbul Restaurant in Portsmouth, we travelled there once more for her birthday choice. Istanbul is still a welcoming and nice quiet place to enjoy a lovely meal during the week. Plus, what's more, the Istanbul Restaurant now offers special deals Monday-Thursday where you can buy one meal and get another half price. Fantastic as you can really get your £20 worth!

Not all of us could manage 3 courses this time, as the food is still so filling....If you are thinking of going to go to the Istanbul Restaurant, I recommend not eating all day, if you want to have enough room for 3 courses!! Prices are still reasonable and as a surprise to us all, we were even placed at the same table as before, right by the window!! After indulging ourselves in Turkish cuisine, we were offered free coffee or tea to finish our meal. Not sure if this was part of the daily deal, but was welcomed all the same (a bit disappointed that they had run out of the tea i wanted tho!!!) For some reason, the portions of the complimentary Turkish delight have diminished somewhat. On the whole it was a nice visit back to Istanbul Restaurant, however, after two visits they have had our review quota for the time being.

Istanbul Turkish Restaurant - If you are hungry, go for the special menu!

Istanbul is a cracking little restaurant along Osborne Road in Southsea. The restaurant has a small intimate feel and the staff make you feel welcomed. I went for one of their special set menus, which consisted of a hot & cold meze, mixed kebab, mixed salad, tea or coffee, Turkish delight and liqeur (if I wasn't driven).

My friends went for an individual starter, main and dessert. I had so much food brought out to me, I could have done with a table to myself and a second stomach. We had a great night out and would recommend this restaurant to others, who want to try something different.
